Our Tours

Grampians Photography Tours offers a unique experience—exploring the Grampians with your own photographer guide. No matter the level of your photographic experience or whether you’re using an SLR camera or an iPhone, there’s something for you in the tours on offer.

Adventuring out early morning or at last light, you’ll see amazing vistas, waterfalls, bushland and rock features, and learn about the Grampians history and natural wonders. But, especially, enjoy the walk with your guide as he shares his tips and techniques to maximise the impact of your photos.

Meet your guide

Marcus Thomson

Marcus grew up in the region, and is a commercial and advertising photographer working throughout Australia and overseas.

He has a passion for photography and has photographed extensively throughout the Grampians.

Marcus knows the best places to shoot, and is supported by his friendly and enthusiastic local team.

Sunrise and Sunset Tours

$300 per person

Dawn or dusk shoot, setting off or returning in the dark (one hour walk each way). Photograph Mount William, Baroka Lookout, The Pinnacle and other sceneries. Locations may change depending on the weather. Please contact for start times.

Half Day Tours

$350 per person

Start with a sunrise tour or finish with a sunset tour. The remainder of the tour takes in local fauna, waterfalls and spectacular vistas. Tour duration is approximately five hours.



One and Two Day Tours

From $750 per person

Explore the Grampians starting with a sunrise shoot. After a morning tea break, continue to photograph waterfalls and vistas. Spend the afternoon following lunch by editing and refining your images before heading out for a sunset shoot. Times change depending on the time of year and the weather.

Helicopter Photography Tours

Fly in a chartered helicopter flown by an experienced pilot from Grampians Helicopter Tours. Capture aerial images across the Grampians of Beehive Falls, Mount William, the Chimney Pots, Elephant’s Hide, Redman’s Bluff, Brigg’s Bluff, Mount Difficult and many more. Tours range from 30 minutes to one hour.

Choose your own photographic adventure of the Grampians’ fauna, vistas and waterfalls. You set the pace and time. You’ll need a good pair of shoes, a backpack, water, snacks and a torch. Please contact to discuss your requirements.


Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring?

A camera (preferably an SLR) or even a phone for the short tours. You’ll also need fully charged batteries and space on your storage cards. Great if you could bring a tripod, filters (polariser or neutral density) and lenses (wide angle to telephoto). Essentials include sunscreen, bug repellent, water, snacks, a torch, hiking boots, backpack and a hat.

Will my guide give me advice on camera techniques?

Yes. Your guide is an experienced photographer and can help you with composition, camera settings, lenses and filters to get the most out of your images.

Am I covered under insurance?

You are responsible for your travel insurance.
